Rule 77: No honorifics
Do not add honorifics (e.g. “-san”/“さん”) unless the artists uses them on the name.
(Applies to all finished artist entries)
It’s common to see artists credited with added honorifics, especially in Japanese (e.g. “-san”/“さん”, “-sama”/“様”).
These honorifics should not be added as the artist name on VocaDB, unless the artist uses those themselves, such as:
Note that, while this rule applies when creating/editing artist entries, you should also consider this when adding artist credits so that you can find the existing artist entry (by excluding the honorifics).
Examples
The following are real-world examples found on video descriptions:
- Use ポテいも (Poteimo), not “ポテいもさん” (“Pote imo-san”) (as seen on this video of Cryogenic)
- Use [redjuice], not “redjuiceさんが” (“redjuice-san”) (as seen on this video of Last Night, Good Night).
- Use かごめP (Kagome), not “かごめP様” (“KagomeP-sama”) (as seen on this video of Absolutenote).
- Use シエル* (Ciel*), not “シエル*様” (“Ciel*-sama”) (as seen on this entry and this video of Absolutenote).
